Frontierland Training - Day 2!

Well howdy there folks!  Today was another day of Frontierland training.  I am finally starting to learn my way around the Utilidors, thank goodness!  Our day started by walking around our area and traveling around the Rivers of America on one of the rafts that go to Tom Sawyer’s Island.  One neat thing about the Rivers of America:  when the Magic Kingdom first opened, guests from all over the country brought a jar of water from a river near their home – thus this literally has water from rivers all across America.  Neat, isn’t it?  We also rode Splash Mountain (we need to be able to inform guests about our attraction, of course).  I was also trained on the FASTPASS machine and how the greeter role works.  Our group then had to go through some modules on the computer (safety and whatnot), and then we actually got to go out into the park and interact with guests!  I had such a good time; I absolutely love talking with guests and helping them, even if the Fastpass machines are a bit finicky.  Just in case y’all don’t know how Fastpass works, I shall outline it for you  ;)

      1.       Find your park ticket (the one you used to enter the Magic Kingdom)
      2.       Insert ticket into the YELLOW slot
      3.       Retrieve the ticket and your Fastpass
      4.       Check the Fastpass for the return time (you must return within that window)
      5.       Return to the attraction and hop into the Fastpass lane, once your time has begun

Okay!  And no, you can’t get another Fastpass right after you’ve already gotten one and no it does not cost any money.  Phew, glad we got that out of the way.

Tomorrow our Splash Mountain training starts bright and early at 7:00.  Despite the early time, I can’t wait to learn more about my attraction.  Hope you all having a magical evening!

  1. Hi Betsy,

I didn't know that about the Rivers of America- I will have to tell the kids when we go in November! We'll look for you at Splash Mountain too!

  2. Wow, I didn't know that about the Rivers of America! That's so cool! I hope you enjoy Splash Mountain, I'm sure it's a lot of fun. When I do the CP I'm hoping to work in Fantasyland but your blog may have me reconsider. How long will you be doing the CP? We're coming down in January to do the Half Marathon and I was hoping to say hi :)

  3. Howdy Leeann! Thank you so much - I'm so glad you are enjoying it! I would love to see you in November :D

I really love learning little facts like the Rivers of America. Here is another one: Just like the Mississippi acted as a boundary between the colonies and the west, we have our own little Mississippi river in Frontierland. It is near the Vacation Club building beside the Shootin' Arcade and acts as a barrier between Libery Square and Frontierland. It's really neat!

  4. Goddessnike, I am definitely enjoying Splash Mountain! There is a ton to learn, but that is to be expected at any position. There can be some really great guest interaction with the little ones - "Wow, that was so cool! Look I'm completely soaked!" It's really cute. Fantasyland would also be a fantastic place to work and there new costumes and quite awesome. Just know that no position can be guarenteed, but definitely ask. I think any position in the Magic Kingdom would be great, but that's because it's my favorite park. And yes, I'll probably still be here in January :)
